EMPIRE SANDY CRUISES

Come aboard the Empire Sandy and sail through the historic locks of the Welland Canal or take a cruise on beautiful Lake Erie. The Empire Sandy is a 200-foot topsail Schooner and the largest in Canada. 

 

Rules on the Empire Sandy:

  • Smoking is not permitted.

  • Coolers are not permitted.

  • Pets are not permitted. Service animals are welcome.

  • Lawn chairs are permitted only on cruises that go through the locks of the Welland Canal.

  • Children's car seats and strollers are permitted.

Accessibility:
Unfortunately, the ship is not fully wheelchair accessible.The Empire Sandy is a historic vessel with limited accessibility. Boarding requires crossing a narrow gangplank and descending three steps, and while the crew may be able to assist some smaller wheelchairs or mobility devices, motorized devices cannot be accommodated. All restroom facilities are located on the lower deck and are only accessible via staircase.

Onboard Concessions on the Empire Sandy:

There is a cash concessions bar on board the Empire Sandy where snacks are available for purchase.

Information for the Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Sunset, and Fireworks Cruises:

The Empire Sandy will be docked alongside West Street in downtown Port Colborne in the general vicinity of 176 West Street. West Street will be closed to vehicular traffic for the duration of the Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival, August 1-4. 

Paid and free parking is available in various locations in the vicinity of the festival grounds. Accessible parking is available at City Hall (66 Charlotte Street) and at the Market Square (across the street from City Hall). It is approximately a five-minute walk to the ship from these locations.

Information for the Cruise Through the Lock:

Cruise through the Locks Shuttles/Parking Options 

  • Pick up from Market Square (59 Charlotte Street) Port Colborne at 8AM 

  • Pick up from Grantham Lions Park (732 Niagara St.) in St. Catharine's at 8:45AM 

  • Following Cruise, Drop off at Grantham Lions Park (732 Niagara St.) in St. Catharine's Please email eventservices@portcolborne.ca to confirm your parking/shuttle options. 

Food Included in the Cruise Through the Locks:

  • Pastry/muffins - Breakfast 

  • Sandwich/Salad - Lunch 

  • Chicken Buffet - Dinner
