Visiting the Port Colborne Historical & Marine Museum during Canal Days is a great way to learn about the marine history of Port Colborne, experience activities and re-enactments, see historical demonstrations, and so much more. Plus, it's nice and shady if the weather is blazing hot. Don't miss out!   

  

Starting in 1979, the Port Colborne Historical and Marine Museum, in partnership with community groups and volunteers, came together to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the first opening of the Welland Canal!  

  

Since then, the Museum has continued to offer a family-friendly place to celebrate the community’s rich marine heritage through historical demonstrations, kiddie train rides, face painting, dress-up, marine games with prizes, a giant sandbox, and more old-fashioned fun!

Indigenous Discovery Circle 

Step into a circle of learning where Indigenous knowledge is shared through hands-on activities, stories, music, creativity, and meaningful conversation. Everyone is welcome. 

​

Drop in anytime between 12 p.m. and 5 p.m. to explore family-friendly activities inspired by Indigenous teachings and our relationship with the natural world. Paint Story Rock, create a pony bead keepsake, discover native plants and pollinators, and enjoy a variety of interactive activities designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and connection.

At 12:00 pm, 2:00 pm, and 4:00 pm each day, join respected Elders and Knowledge Keepers Grandmother Jackie Labonté, Nokomis CindiLee, Mary Clause, and Franklyn McNaughton for immersive cultural experiences that invite visitors of all ages to participate and learn together. Create your own Two Row Wampum keepsake while discovering its enduring message of respect and coexistence. Explore the Seven Grandfather Teachings through storytelling and hands-on learning. Experience the energy of Haudenosaunee songs and social dances, and gather around the Big Drum where everyone is warmly invited to participate.
