About the Event
The Empire Sandy Cruise through the locks takes place on Thursday, July 30th, 2026 to kick off the the 48th Annual Canal Days Marine Heritage Festival Presented by Gio Railways.
The Empire Sandy is a 200-foot Topsail Schooner and is the largest in Canada. This Cruise will take you from the the Docks in Port Wellar through all 8 Locks of the Welland Canal disembarking in Port Colborne.
Rules on the Empire Sandy:

- Coolers are not permitted.
- Pets are not permitted, except for registered service animals.
